DISPOSAL OF FAMILY PROPERTY
ACQUISITION OF NEW HOME

Background:

Client had divorced and the majority of assets had been split, excepting the family home.  As part of that agreement, it was required to sell the family home within a certain time period.

The client subsequently had to buy a much smaller and more affordable property within a similar area, to be close to her children’s schools.

Problem:

The client was finding it very difficult to come to terms with the changed living situation and was seemingly paralyzed on the need to sell the existing property and purchase a smaller home.

Solution:

G&J developed a strategy to interview agents and make recommendations for selling the family home. Given so much time had already lapsed since initial asset split, and in order to comply with the previous agreement, the auction for the sale of the family home would need to be held during a 'quiet' sales period.

This timing would have been detrimental to sale price.

G&J worked closely with the client’s family lawyer to arrange consent from the other party to slightly delay the sale period.

Outcome:

G&J proceeded to manage the campaign and Auction process and the property achieved an excellent price. Client was able to purchase a subsequent home with full confidence.
